Tuvalu, in the South Pacific, is a free island country inside the British Commonwealth. Its 9 islands contain little, meagerly populated atolls and reef islands with palm-bordered shorelines and WWII destinations. Off Funafuti, the capital, the Funafuti Conservation Area offers quiet waters for jumping and swimming among ocean turtles and tropical fish, in addition to a few uninhabited islets shielding ocean flying creatures.
