Timor Leste

Timor-Leste, or East Timor, a Southeast Asian country involving a large portion of the island of Timor, is ringed by coral reefs abounding with marine life. Tourist spots in the capital, Dili, address the nation's battles for autonomy from Portugal in 1975 and after that Indonesia in 2002. The famous 27m-tall Cristo Rei de Dili statue sits on a peak high over the city, with clearing perspectives on the encompassing sound.
